Day 01 | Dimapur Rly. Station / DMU Airport - Kohima ( 78 km 03 Hrs )
On arrival at Dimapur Rly Station / Airport & transfer to Kohima. Check-in to hotel & rest of the day at leisure. Overnight stay at Kohima.
Day 02 | Kohima Sightseeing
After breakfast visit The Kohima War Cemetery constructed in the memory of the officers and soldiers who made supreme sacrifices during World War II, the war cemetery attracts hundreds of visitors every year including the relatives of those martyrs. Maintained by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission, the cemetery witnessed more than 2000 graves, on each grave there are beautiful epitaphs carved in bronze. “When You Go Home, Tell Them Of Us And Say, For Your Tomorrow, We Gave Our Today”. Later an excursion to Khonoma Village, that lies 21 kms away from Kohima town the Khonoma village is the first “green village” of Nagaland. The village is well known for the legendary leader Angami Zapu Phizo who was the founder of the Naga movement. Later Evening free for leisure. Overnight stay at hotel.
Day 03 | Kohima - Dimapur ( 78 kms 03 Hrs )
This morning after breakfast drive to Dimapur. The economy capital of Nagaland, Dimapur was once the capital of the Kachari kingdom. The name itself derived from the Kachari dialect; ‘di’ Meaning River, ‘ma’ meaning great and ‘pur’ meaning city. The History of Dimapur dated back to the age of Mahabharata, where the second Pandava, Bheema while in exile, tied the weeding knot with the Kachari princess Hidimba. Thus the place became known as Hidimbapur. It was during the British that it had got the present name Dimapur. Arrive Dimapur and check in at hotel. Afternoon visit Ruins of Kachari Kingdom. In evening spend time at Dimapur Market – One of the landmarks of the town is the famous market near the railway station where one can buy the goods imported from Myanmar and China. Overnight stay at hotel.
Day 04 | Dimapur - Kaziranga ( 150 km 03 Hrs )
After breakfast check out from hotel and transfer to kaziranga National Park, the home of “One Horned Rhinoceros”, Check in at your hotel. Evening is free for leisure. Overnight stay at Kaziranga.
In the afternoon enjoy jeep safari through the National Park. Return to the hotel. Overnight stay at Kaziranga. Important note: Elephant rides are all regulated and controlled by the forest Dept. Govt. of Assam. We do not have any control on the booking. Elephant ride & Jeep safari are subject to availability only.
Day 05 | Kaziranga - Guwahati Airport drop
Early morning after breakfast check out and drive to Guwahati . On arrival check into hotel and leave for sightseeing.
Kamakhya Temple - The origin of Kamakhya Temple is pre Aryan situated atop the Nilachal Hill. The formost shrine of Assam, The Kamakhya is an ancient seat of Tantric and shakti Cults of Hinduism. The original temple was destroyed by the invading Muslims in their crusade against Hindu temples and idols in the early part of 16th century. Ultimately it was restored from ruins by King Naranarayan of the Koch dynasty and rebuilt in its present forming 1665 AD.
Chhinnamasta - The Chhinnamasta temple is situated adjacent to the Kamakhya temple. The goddess is also known as Gupta Durga. Devi cut her own head and carried in her hand.
Bhairabi temple - Bhairabi temple is situated in the lower portion of Nilachal hill. The floor area of the temple is said to be on human skulls. In each night of Full Moon and Dark Moon, the priests offer puzas to Devi Bhairabi in tantrik system. The pond in the temple complex is full of tortoises population of very old times. When called as ‘Mohan’ with some food-stuff they rush towards the beach to get it.
Bagala temple - The followers of tantras offer puja in the Bagla temple. There is a common belief that Bagala Devi provides mental peace and relief to the devotees, when confronted by evils and foes.
In the evening back to hotel and overnight stay.
Day 06 | Guwahati - Shillong ( 150 kms 03 Hrs )
After breakfast check out and drive to transfer to Shillong (4,900 ft.), called 'Scotland of the East". Enroute visit Umium Lake, a majestic placid lake with its surrounding sylvan hills. On arrival at Shillong, on arrival check in at your hotel. Overnight stay at Shillong.
Day 07 | Shillong - Cherrapunji
Cherrapunjee is one of the most beautiful parts of Meghalaya. With many wonderful places to see in Cherrapunjee and around, the drive from Shillong to Cherrapunjee will take almost the entire day, even though the distance is very small. Today’s journey is full of places to see. By the end of the day, you will have visited the following places:
- Elephant falls.
- Shillong Peak.
- Mawkdok Viewpoint.
- Wah Kaba Falls.
- Arwah Caves.
- Dainthlen Falls.[Time & weather permitting.]
- Nonkalikhai Falls.
- Mawsmai Caves/Arwah Caves.
Nohkalikai Falls – Cherrapunjee
For the night, check in to a wonderfully located resort off Cherrapunjee or at a very homely and simple homestay in Cherrapunjee.
Day 08 | Cherrapunji Near Sightseeing
You will be walking to the bio-engineering marvel also known as the living root bridge or jingkieng nongriat (double-decker living root bridge). The trek to the double-decker living root bridge starts from a tiny village named Tyrna. You will be joined by your guide here, who will guide you through quaint villages, turquoise natural pools, and gorgeous vegetation.
Nongriat village as seen from the trekking trail At a brisk pace, it will take you more than an hour to reach the double-decker living root bridge. Once there, spend your time lazing around at the natural pool near the root bridge. Explore the area at your own place and then start your walk back. Remember, lunch in Nongriat will have to be either snacks and energy bars that you carry or simple noodles or local food available there. Be back at your stay by evening.
Day 09 | Cherrapunji - Mawlynnong
Start at leisure today and start for Mawlynnong village, after breakfast. Famously known as Asia’s cleanest village, Mawlynnong is a quaint village tucked on a small hill overlooking the Bangladesh plains. But before we head there, we will take a detour towards the India – Bangladesh border at Dawki.
Here, you can experience boating on the transparent waters (not included) and have your lunch on a river island of the Umngkot River. From there, you will go visit the Tamabil border post before heading back to Mawlynnong village for the night. Boating on the transparent waters of the Dawki River
Day 10 | Mawlynnong - Shillong
Wake up early and take a walk around the beautiful village with its hundred-year-old Church to see how everyone, from kids to elders, strives to keep even the tiniest bit of trash off the streets and everywhere else other than the dustbins. Head back to your Khasi homestay to freshen up and check out.
Post breakfast, we will be visiting the single-decker living root bridge at the Riwai village.
From there, start for Jowai but not before visiting the gorgeous Krangsuri waterfall and spend some time there.
Latter visit Jowai and evening transfer to Shillong and overnight stay at hotel
Day 11 | Shillong - Departure to Guwahati Airport
On the last day of your trip, take it easy. Check out around 10 or so and then do some last-minute shopping from Shillong, later drop at Guwahati airport for onward journey.
